A 23-year-old man was shot to death about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Logan Square neighborhood, one of two gunshot victims discovered overnight in the city.
The 23-year-old was found bleeding from a chest wound near the intersection of Wrightwood and Sawyer avenues on the Northwest Side. Paramedics took him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and he was pronounced dead there just after 5 a.m., police said.
Late Monday night, a man in his 40s or early 50s was found shot to death inside his apartment in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. The man's landlord discovered him about 9:45 p.m. in the apartment in the 5300 block of West Adams Street.
Police said the man suffered gunshot wounds to his head and side and that he may have been shot a few days ago. The man's body was in the early stages of decomposition and blood at the scene had dried, police said.
Neighbors had gathered outside nearby, curious about the dozen or so officers and investigators lingering in front of the apartment. After police had been there for more than two hours, a supervisor draped tape from one side of Adams Street to the other.
No one is in custody.
