A 26-year-old Glenview man was pronounced dead after he fell from the Howard Street CTA train platform Sunday evening and landed on the third rail, officials said.
The incident happened at about 7:30 p.m., officials said.
The man made contact with the third rail and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Jeffery Lavalle, of the 1700 block of Harrison Street in Glenview, was pronounced dead at 8:08 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Officials believe he accidentally fell onto the tracks.
The Cook County medical examiner's confirmed following an autopsy today that Lavalle died in an accidental electrocution after making contact with the third rail.
