A 20-year-old man was found dead this morning with an apparent gunshot wound to his head in the East Side neighborhood, just a block from his home, authorities said.
Police responded to the 10900 block of South Mackinaw Avenue just before 8 a.m. after a report of an unresponsive man and found the victim, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
The victim later was identified as Gino Angotti, of the 10900 block of South Buffalo Avenue, who was declared dead at 8:29 a.m. on the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The man had sustained a gunshot wound to his head and was deceased when police arrived, Kubiak said.
No other information was available as police investigate the shooting. No one was in custody.
