A bit of good news about Lillie's Q (1856 W. North Ave., 773-772-5500), which was badly damaged by a water-heater basement fire last week.
Though Charlie McKenna's stellar barbecue restaurant remains closed, he reopened his satellite location in the French Market (131 N. Clinton St., alongside the Ogilvie Transportation Center) in time for lunch today.
The menu, understandably, is limited. Pulled-pork, by the half-pound ($9) or in sandwiches ($7), and coleslaw ($3) is all that McKenna will serve today, and those items will be available from 11 a.m. until they run out. Starting Saturday, the location will open at 10 a.m. Monday-Saturday, closing when the last food is sold.
No word on when the Bucktown restaurant will re-open; the building sustained considerable damage. But the satellite location will let McKenna make a little money in the interim, and fans of first-rate barbecue might consider supporting that effort.
