Reality TV star and mother of eight Kate Gosselin will run the Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago mini-marathon July 22 in Grant Park.

What’s your excuse for not running?

The former star of TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" will take part in the 3 mile course on behalf of her current employer Couponcabin.com (she's a blogger for the website, which is offering runners $5 off the race entry fee). Gosselin, 37, ran the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego half marathon Sunday and the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas marathon in December.

Gosselin won't be the first reality star to take part in the Rock 'n' Roll Chicago race. Giuliana Rancic, star of Style Network's "Giuliana and Bill," and "Bachelor" alums Jake Pavelka and Jason Mesnick ran the half marathon in 2010. "Today" weatherman Al Roker and retired NFL star Roger Craig ran it in 2011.

Heads up: “Glee” actor Chris Colfer will sign copies of his children’s book “The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell” at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville July 19. … Andy Samberg, who earlier this week announced he has left “Saturday Night Live,” will meet with Chicago media Tuesday to promote his upcoming film “That’s My Boy.” … Singers Robin Thicke and Karmin will headline Macy's Glamorama 2012, which this year will take place August 10 at Harris Theater in Millenium Park. ... “106 & Park” co-host and “Think Like a Man” actor Terrence J will appear at Crown Royal Black’s The Crown Life party Tuesday at the Chicago Illuminating Company.

It’s in the game: NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, who grew up in Roscoe, Ill., will be a playable character in the upcoming video game, “Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.” Your move, "Mario Kart."

On the record: “I really didn’t know anybody. I would go to East Bank Club and try to stretch my workout as long as I could, just to have something to do during the day.” Reality TV star Bethenny Frankel talks to Michigan Avenue magazine about her brief time living in Chicago.

Finding love in a hopeless place: Chicago resident and fellow Tribune employee Yanina Beccaria feels men in this city are hard to date and tried her luck on the Jenny McCarthy-hosted reality show, “Love in the Wild,” which airs Tuesdays on NBC. When I asked Yanina what she has against us, she said we have “Peter Pan syndrome” (in other words, she feels we don’t want to grow up). Pfff. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

Good job, good effort: I didn't like cheering for the same sports teams as everyone else when I was a kid (the Cubs being the exception), which is why I'm a San Antonio Spurs fan and have been since fifth grade. Even when the Bulls won six titles, I stuck with the Spurs and it eventually paid off with four titles. I was convinced a fifth was on the way a week ago. Four straight losses later, I'm asking myself "What the hell just happened?" and listening to Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" on repeat. This one is going to sting for a while. Oh well. At least I still have the Cubs...

Sightings: Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters dined at Balena in Lincoln Park Saturday. … Giuliana and Bill Rancic hosted a viewing party for their reality show Tuesday at their restaurant, RPM Italian. Walter E. Smithe furniture presented the couple, which is expecting a child via surrogate, with a rocking chair at the party. ... The Bears’ Lance Briggs, Charles “Peanut” Tillman and Johnny Knox attended former Bear Rashied Davis’s Cocktails for Brighter Tomorrows party, which benefitted his Saturday Place youth program, at Rockit Bar & Grill Tuesday. … The White Sox’s John Danks, Adam Dunn and Jake Peavy were on hand for Pat Green’s concert at Joe's on Weed St. Friday (The Pony owner Mark Domitrovich told me Peavy has a great singing voice. I still don’t know if he was joking.) … Former New York Knick Allan Houston dined Tuesday at Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap Tuesday.

Watch this: I like Kanye West but don't like his "Mercy" song. Why? I don't know. I'm not a music writer. I can't really explain it. I usually either think a song sucks or it doesn't. But if you like this song, which also features Big Sean, Pusha T and 2 Chainz, then I'm guessing you'll probably enjoy the music video.
