Broadway stars Kate Baldwin and Bobby Steggert have been added to the previously announced cast of "Big Fish," the new musical based on the Tim Burton movie. "Big Fish" is slated to premiere in Chicago in April in a pre-Broadway tryout. Norbert Leo Butz is the star.
It was also announced Monday that "Big Fish" will arrive on Broadway in the fall, with the New York opening set for Oct. 6 at the Neil Simon Theatre, 250 W. 52nd St. Previews will begin Sept. 5.
"Big Fish," also based on a Daniel Wallace novel, will be directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman and will feature a score by Andrew Lippa and a book by John August, who wrote the screenplay for the 2003 Columbia Pictures film.
Chicago performances begin April 2 at the Oriental Theatre, 24 W. Randolph St. (The date of the Chicago press opening has been changed; it's now April 19.) It's slated as a five-week run.
