Jessie Mueller, the Chicago actress turned Broadway star, has plucked one of the major plums on the Great White Way.
Mueller has landed the role of Carole King in the new biographical show, "Beautiful--the Carole King Musical," as penned by Douglas McGrath and featuring songs made famous by King.
Based on the early life and career of the famed singer-songwriter, "Beautiful" is slated to try out in San Francisco this fall, before opening on Broadway, at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, in January. Marc Bruni directs. Mueller most recently was a replacement star in "Nice Work If You Can Get It" on Broadway.
