Grumpy Cat appearing at Old Orchard mall to promote her book

The Internet's most curmudgeonly and successful sourpuss has her stink-eye on the New York Times bestseller list once again.

Try not to act too excited.

Internet meme Grumpy Cat (real name: Tardar Sauce) will appear Aug. 8 at Barnes & Noble at Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie to promote “The Grumpy Guide to Life: Observations by Grumpy Cat.”

Fans who purchase the book at the Old Orchard Barnes & Noble when its released Tuesday will receive a ticket to meet Grumpy Cat -- whose frowning facial expression is said to be due to feline dwarfism and an underbite -- during the appearance and pose for a photo with her.

Grumpy Cat’s first book “Grumpy Cat: A Grumpy Book” was a New York Times best seller. She also has a coffee drink line called Grumppuccino and has endorsed Friskies cat food. On Monday, Grumpy Cat made an appearance on ABC’s “After the Final Rose” special due to the comparisons to “Bachelorette” Andi Dorfman.

Next up: A live-action Lifetime movie called “Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever.”

In addition to Grumpy Cat, other internet memes that have capitalized off their fame include the “(Expletive) My Dad Says” Twitter feed, which was turned into a network TV show starring William Shatner, and “Friday” singer Rebecca Black, who had not one, but two songs reach the Billboard Hot 100.
