Chicago Shakespeare Theater's hip-hop production of "Othello: The Remix" opened Saturday night in London. The show, devised by Chicago's Q Brothers and one component of the massive Globe-to-Globe festival featuring Shakespearean productions from around the world, is a part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
The Q Brothers are known for the rap-fused takes on the works of Shakespeare. The show is also slated to be part of the Edinburgh Festival in August. It's not yet been seen in Chicago.
But on Saturday, as pictured above, Chicago Shakespeare was the only U.S. representative at the venue built as a homage to Shakespeare's original Globe Theatre on London's South Bank.
Executive director Criss Henderson said the show was "wildly well received," replete with several curtain calls.
