No other play before Bruce Norris' "Clybourne Park"has won the Tony Award for best play, the Pulitzer Prize for drama and the Olivier Award (the British equivalent of the Tony Awards) for best new play. So says Arvid S. Sponberg, a professor of English at Valparaiso University in Indiana.
"No other play can make that claim," Sponberg said. "The closest any other play has come also has Chicago ties."
That would be David Mamet's "Glengarry Glen Ross," which won the Olivier and Pulitzer when it first emerged, and the Tony for best revival in 2005.
