Two people were shot tonight in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Paramedics were called about 9:50 p.m. to the 5500 block of South Shields Avenue where two people had been shot, according to fire department spokesman Larry Langford.
One victim was taken by ambulance to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious-to-critical condition while the other victim got to the University of Chicago Hospital by other means, Langford said.
The person taken to Stroger was a man who had been shot in the knee and finger and his condition had stabilized, according to Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer, who was citing preliminary information. The gender of the other victim was not available.
Ages were not available for either victim.
