A huge hit 17 years ago at both the Turnaround and Steppenwolf Theatres, the Chicago production of Brian Friel's Irish drama "Faith Healer" is to be remounted in December, replete with its original director, JR Sullivan, and the original cast of Brad Armacost, Lia D. Mortensen and Si Osborne.
The remount will take place at the Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave., in Wicker Park. Opening night is slated for Dec. 8.
"Faith Healer" was first seen at the now defunct Turnaround Theatre in 1995 (the space at 3209 N. Halsted St. is now the home of the Playground Theatre), where it played for four months. It then became the first production in the new Steppenwolf Studio Season, inauguarting what's now known as the Upstairs Theatre.
Sullivan, the founder of the New American Theatre in Rockford, now runs the Pearl Theatre in New York.
