"Doyle and Debbie," the country-music spoof at the Royal George Theatre Cabaret, 1641 N. Halsted St., is closing on May 27.
A spokesman for the producers said that the show is headed to another city, yet to be announced. Initial plans had called for the show to be re-cast and remain in Chicago after the exit of its creators and original stars, Bruce Aniston, Jenny Littleton and Matt Carlton, but it's been decided instead that the best strategy is to call it quits and maybe come back later.
A modestly profitable, eight-month Chicago run is not too shabby: "Doyle and Debbie" will have played 34 weeks and staged about 250 performances.
