Chicago Fire Department divers pulled a body from Lake Michigan near North Avenue this morning, a department spokesman said.
Fire and police rescue crews were called to 1350 N. Lake Shore Drive to check on a person in the water about 11:30 a.m. The victim was an unidentified woman, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Divers from Fire Department Squad 1 were able to pull a body from the water quickly, despite "treacherous" choppy waves on the lake this morning, said department spokesman Kevin MacGregor.
Police were conducting a death investigation, but police News Affairs had no details in the case this afternoon.
