Detectives this afternoon asked for the public’s help finding a man who sexually assaulted and robbed a woman at gunpoint in a Bronzeville neighborhood parking lot early this morning.

The woman, age 25, was getting out of her car in the parking lot in the 4700 block of South Vincennes Avenue about 12:45 a.m., when a man accosted her, police said.

The man came up to her, showed a black handgun and said he was robbing her, according to a police community alert. The man then robbed her and sexually assaulted her in the lot, police said.

Central Area detectives said the attacker was described as a black man between the ages of 20 and 35, standing about 6 feet tall, with a thin build and weighing about 150 pounds. He had a dark complexion and had a goatee or mustache, police said.

At the time of the attack, the man was wearing a dark gray, long-sleeve hooded jacket, blue jeans and a face mask.
