Chicago police were called to the Michigan Avenue Bridge this afternoon after someone reported seeing a suspicious package on an empty boat on the Chicago River, police said.
Police determined that the call was unfounded and no item was found.
The call came in at about 5:10 p.m. after the person reportedly saw what appeared to be a suspicious package on an boat docked near the Michigan Avenue Bridge, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.
Police responded but determined that the call was unfounded and no items were found, said O'Brien. Police allowed people into the area a short time later after determining that the area was safe, O'Brien said.
