Police arrested a man minutes after he snatched an iPad from a woman on an “L” train and punched another woman as the train stopped in Wrigleyville late last night, prosecutors said today.

Zachary Robinson, 21, was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail in a bond hearing midday today before Cook County Criminal Court Judge Edward Harmening, said Cook County state’s attorney’s spokesman Andy Conklin.

Robinson was charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor battery after he grabbed a woman’s iPad on an “L” at the Red Line's Addison stop, 940 W. Addison St., and punched another woman about 10:45 p.m. Thursday, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien.

After the attack, the robber took off from the "L" stop, heading west on Addison on a skateboard, O’Brien said. Officers at the station were able to get a description of the attacker from the victims, and broadcast it to other officers in the area, who caught up with him as he headed north in the 3700 block of North Racine Avenue, and arrested him in the 1100 block of West Waveland Avenue.

The victims identified the man arrested as the robber, and he was taken into custody and later charged, O’Brien and Conklin said.

Robinson, who police said lives in the 4500 block of North Sheridan Road, but who prosecutors said may live in the 8200 block of South Champlain Avenue, is due back in court on Sept. 13, Conklin said.
