A passenger in a car was killed and another wounded when shots were fired from a passing car in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, Chicago police said.
The victims' car was in the 2500 block of West Thomas Street when a car behind it flashed its headlights, according to Officer Laura Kubiak, a police spokeswoman. The car then swung around and a passenger in the front seat pulled a handgun and fired several shots, Kubiak said.
Miguel Cruz, 28, of the 2500 block of North LeClaire Avenue, was shot in the chest and taken to Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
A second man was wounded in the shoulder and taken to St. Mary in good condition, police said.
Police didn't have a description of the gunman's vehicle, and said no arrests had been made. A motive for the slaying wasn't known.
