Police found a man dead on a Far South Side parkway early Thursday morning and another woman was seriously wounded in a West Side home invasion Wednesday night.

Police found the dead man about 12:50 a.m. near the corner of 122nd Street and Union Avenue in the West Pullman neigborhood. He had been shot in the head.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the man as Bobby Pruitt-Williams, 19, of the 500 block of West 125th Street.

Earlier, a woman was shot and seriously wounded in a home invasion in the Austin neighborhood this evening, police said.

The woman, age 47, was shot at her home in the 5000 block of West Van Buren Street about 6:10 p.m., Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.

The woman was at home in her room when she was confronted by a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a mask, O'Brien said.

The woman struggled with the man and was shot, then chased him, and then saw a second home invader near stairs leading down from her room. The two invaders fled out the front door of the residence, O'Brien said.

The woman suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital, where she was in serious condition, but had been stabilized, O'Brien said.

No one was in custody.
