Chicago Shakespeare Theater said Monday that it will be the only U.S. theater company among the 37 international troupes invited to be part of the “Globe to Globe” festival for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

The project aims to present all of Shakespeare’s plays, each performed in a different language, over a period of six weeks. CST’s contribution will not be in English (or even Chicago-ese) but “American hip-hop.” The Chicago-raised Q Brothers (“The Bomb-itty of Errors,” “Funk it Up About Nothing”) are to be commissioned to create “Othello: The Remix.”

The show will open at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London on May 5. It will subsequently be seen in Chicago on a date yet to be determined.
