A man died after he was shot in the abdomen at a "30 & over" lounge at the corner of 69th and Morgan streets in the Englewood neighborhood, around the corner from his home, authorities said.
The 29-year-old man was shot outside the lounge about 2 a.m. and stumbled into the bar, situated on the first floor of a large brick 2-story building on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The slain man was identified as Christopher Roundtree, of the 7000 block of South Carpenter Street, around the corner from the lounge.
He was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County about 5:30 a.m., a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
Police blocked northbound traffic from the intersection for about an hour while an evidence technician gathered items from the scene.
Left on the stoop after the technician told police to cut the crime scene tape was a fitted ball cap with a horizontal brim slightly upturned.
Roundtree was on parole in a 2012 firearms case, in which he pleaded guilty to illegally selling guns, according to state and court records. He was released on parole in November, according to state records, and was scheduled to complete his parole in November 2013.
