An adult-oriented puppet show called "Stuffed and Unstrung" is headed this June to the Bank of America Theatre, Broadway in Chicago announced Monday.
Produced by Westbeth Entertainment and Henson Alternative, the show uses the talents of the famed Jim Henson Company. However, unlike endeavors such as "The Muppet Show," "Stuffed and Unstrung" lets audiences watch both the work of the puppets and the visible puppeteers. The piece employs both puppetry and improvised comedy and has evolved from a show (previously known as "Puppet Up! Uncensored") that has played various comedy festivals in Australia and elsewhere. "Stuffed and Unstrung" played off-Broadway last year and also showed up on the 2011 Grammy Awards. It will be in Chicago from June 12-17, around the time of the Just for Laughs comedy festival. Individual tickets are not yet on sale.
Broadway in Chicago also said that a reprise engagement of the perennial touring attraction, "Peter Pan," starring Cathy Rigby, will land at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, 151 W. Randolph St., from Jan. 30 to Feb. 10, 2013.
