Boy, 15, shot in Little Village dies

A 15-year-old boy shot in the head Sunday in the Little Village neighborhood has died, authorities said.

Victor Damian, of the 3000 block of South St. Louis Avenue, was pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police said a male gunnman opened fire at 4:22 p.m. Sunday after stepping out of a vehicle in the 2800 block of South Spaulding Avenue.

Damian had been standing in the street flashing gang signs at the time, according to police.

After the shooting, the gunman fled the scene and the boy was brought to Mount Sinai in critical condition.

As of Monday night, no arrests had been made.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday that should determine the cause and manner of Damian's death.

Damian was one of five people shot during three separate shootings that happened between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the West Side.
