Bonnie Metzgar, the artistic director of Chicago's About Face Theatre, said Thursday that she plans to leave the theater next June, at the end of the 2012-13 season. "It's an organic time for there to be a leadership transition," Metzgar said in an interview Thursday. Although itinerent, About Face Theatre has long been one of Chicago's leading gay-and-lesbian companies.
Meztgar said she plans to stay in Chicago thereafter; she has been at About Face for five years, after being hired away from Brown University. About Face plans to conduct a nationwide search for her replacement.
