Beach Boys with Brian Wilson to play Chicago Theatre
The Beach Boys pose backstage at the Grammys.
For the first time in two decades, the Beach Boys lineup will include Wilson, the group’s primary songwriter and producer in its prime. He will join cofounders Mike Love, Al Jardine and David Marks, plus Bruce Johnston, who has been with the group since 1965. The latter four have been touring regularly, while Wilson has pursued a solo career that has revived interest in ‘60s Beach Boys classics he oversaw such as “Pet Sounds” and “Smile.”
Tickets ($40, $60, $100, $150, $250) go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at the Chicago Theatre box office and Ticketmaster. The concert is part of a tour that covers more than 40 dates, including performances April 27 at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and June 10 at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The band is also working on a new studio album.
