Syesha Mercado, a finalist on the "American Idol" talent show, has taken over the featured role of Nabulungi in the Chicago production of "The Book of Mormon," representatives of the show have confirmed.
Stephanie Umoh, the star of the Broadway revival of "Ragtime" who was previously announced in this role, has now left the Chicago production which began previews on Tuesday at the Bank of America Theatre. There has been no official word on why she has left, but logic would suggest the actress has been replaced.
