5 hurt when car strikes cab in Wicker Park

At least five people were injured this morning when a car sped through a red light and collided with a cab in the Wicker Park neighborhood, authorities said.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Division Street and Ashland Avenue at about 12:30 a.m., Chicago police said.

A taxi, carrying no passengers, was traveling through the intersection when the other car containing five people rolled though a red traffic light and broadsided the taxi, police said. Early police reports indicate one of the vehicles struck pedestrians in the neighborhood.

The five victims were taken to hospitals but the injuries were not considered serious.

It was not known if any citations were issued.
