Meet Team StarKid
"To be honest," said a mother who had driven to Chicago from Michigan, just so her daughter could attend the screening of a Team StarKid stage production -- a video of a production, mind you, not the thing itself -- "it kind of reminds me of those shows they put on at Disney World. You know, with all the smiling theater kids?¿ It¿s not a terrible, glib description of StarKid. They are theater kids. They have the kind of confidence that doesn¿t commonly exist in nature. "I am amazed by our fan¿s reaction to us," said StarKid Dylan Saunders, "but not surprised, really. And because of the internet, we are a group that probably couldn¿t have existed just six or seven years ago, either."
They are, if nothing else, knowing. Yet, because "StarKid is still growing at a pace that we¿re comfortable with," as member Julia Albain explained, they have not left the realm of reality. They have not become difficult to deal with. They still seem like kids. And what do kids like more than filling out paperwork? So we gave them a questionnaire. -- Chris Borrelli
