Searching for coyote dens
Melina Peters, left, wildlife technician, and Mike Neri, wildlife biologist for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (FPDCC) search for coyote dens in a northwest suburban forest preserve. Researchers for the FPDCC, along with those from the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation, were searching for pups still in or near their dens. The researchers record health statistics, draw DNA samples and insert microchip tags as part of the ongoing Cook County Coyote Project.
