Two west suburban women were killed overnight when a minivan going the wrong way crashed into their car on the Eisenhower Expressway near Harlem Avenue in Oak Park, authorities said.
The women were 19 and 20 years old and were both pronounced dead about 2:50 a.m. at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Miguel Rico, 20, of the 2400 block of South Christiana Avenue in the city's Little Village neighborhood, was behind the wheel of a red 2005 Dodge minivan and was driving west in the eastbound lanes near Harlem Avenue at 1:50 a.m. when he plowed into an eastbound 2001 blue Ford, killing two of three women inside, including its driver, according to Illinois State Police.
The Ford's driver was identified as Briana Resto, 19, of Northlake, and her passenger was Monica Hernandez, 20, of Maywood, according to state police. The surviving woman, identified as Brittney Mouzon, 20, of Maywood, was taken to an area hospital.
Rico's sole passenger, Jose Moreno, 20, of the 1600 block of South 58th Court in Cicero, also survived and was taken to a hospital, state police said.
The crash is believed to be alcohol-related and charges are pending.
The ramp, when driving east toward the city, is in the left lane.
