A 19-year-old woman fought off an attacker who tried to drag her into an alley this morning in the Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
The woman was walking about 7:40 a.m. in the 2700 block of North Lamon Avenue when the man ran up from behind and grabbed her arm, police said in a community alert.
The man told her to come with him and began pulling her toward a nearby alley, but the woman screamed and was able to fight off the attacker, who fled, police said.
The community alert describes the attacker as a white Hispanic man, about 20-25 and 5-foot-8, with a slim build, medium complexion and slight facial hair. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, white gym shoes and long gray basketball-style shorts with a white stripe on each side.
Anyone with information is asked to call Area North detectives at 312-744-8200.
