A 78-year-old Kaneville woman died Tuesday after a fatal crash near Elburn.
Lorella Huff of the 46W500 block of Main Street was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash – the intersection of Route 38 and Francis Road, police said.
The accident closed a portion of Route 38 west of Elburn for nearly four hours.
About 11:45 a.m., Kane County Sheriff’s police were called to the scene. The initial investigation shows Huff was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry north on Francis Road and went through a stop sign at Route 38, police said.
A 2012 Hino Box truck westbound on Route 38 then collided with the Toyota, police said. Traffic on Route 38 at that intersection does not have a stop sign.
The driver of the truck was not injured, police said.
Although police continue to investigate the crash, no tickets have been issued yet.
