A 42-year-old man is in custody, accused of critically injuring a 47-year-old man by pushing him down a flight of stairs during an argument early this morning in the Little Village neighborhood.

No charges have been filed as of early this afternoon but the man remains custody, according to police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.

Police officers were flagged down about 1 a.m. after the two men had become embroiled in an argument in the 2500 block of South Avers Avenue, according to Sullivan.

In a fit of anger, the 42-year-old pushed the 47-year-old down a flight of stairs, said Sullivan.

The victim’s head slammed on the pavement and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, the officer said.
