A man described as armed and dangerous who is accused of severely beating a woman this week in unincorporated Cook County near Palatine was taken into custody without incident and charged this morning, authorities said.
Joseph L. Lopez Jr., 34, was taken into custody about 10 a.m. today in the 1400 block of Brownstone Court in Mount Prospect, according to a statement from the Cook County sheriff’s office.
Lopez, of Mount Prospect, was charged with two counts of aggravated domestic battery and is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing Saturday at the George Leighton Criminal Court Building, the statement said.
An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for Lopez, who is accused of "severely beating'' a woman late Tuesday inside a car in a parking lot near Palatine, an earlier statement read. Lopez also threatened to shoot police who come in contact with him and turn the gun on himself, according to the statement, which described him as armed and dangerous.
