The body of a missing 32-year-old Joliet man was recovered about 1:45 p.m. today from the Des Plaines River, roughly four blocks north of Interstate 80, officials said.
Deputy Fire Chief Ray Randich said paramedics used a boat to recover the body, which was spotted floating near the McDonough Street Bridge by a passerby around 12:35 p.m. First responders determined the clothed man was already deceased by the time they arrived, Randich said.
Joliet Police Lt. Ed Gregory said the body was floating upriver due to a "real, real strong wind." Gregory said the man was reported missing to Joliet Police on Dec. 29, but withheld identification until the family is notified.
