Paul Peatry (Chicago police / July 22, 2014)

A former janitor at a South Side high school was charged with sexually assaulting a student at the school over a year’s time as well as molesting another student, Cook County prosecutors alleged today.

Paul Peatry, 40, who also volunteered as an assistant athletic coach at Bowen High School, was charged with criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse – both while in a position of trust or authority.

Assistant State’s Attorney Colleen Rogers said the alleged victims came forward in January.

Prosecutors said Peatry repeatedly had sex with one student in classrooms after school between August 2012 and July 2013 when she was 16 and 17.

He also alleged fondled another female student in a classroom after school in February 2013, prosecutors said.

Peatry’s attorney said her client now works as a security guard.

Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil ordered Peatry held on $100,000 bail.
