Metra Union Pacific-Northwest Line trains were delayed this evening after an outbound train hit a car in Des Plaines, according to the agency.

Train No. 633, scheduled to arrive in Barrington at 5:54 p.m., hit the car near the line's Des Plaines station about 5:30 p.m., said Metra spokesman Tom Miller. No one was in the car at the time, however, and no one was believed to have been injured.

The train was stopped while the car is cleared and track inspected, Miller said. Other trains also are expected to be delayed, Miller said.

The train and others may be delayed up to an hour, according to Metra. Check Metra's Website for updates.
