A Skokie man who found a kidnapped boy in an alley behind his residence Thursday told authorities that the boy was "fine" and was "sitting in the front seat of my car right now."
The unidentified man told the dispatcher when he called 911 that he was driving home from the grocery store when he heard about the Amber Alert notifying the public that the boy was in the back seat of a white Audi that was stolen from a driveway in Park Ridge earlier that day.
"I just found Drake," the man told the 911 dispatcher.
The man said he was pulling into his garage off the alley when he saw the Audi abandoned there, with the boy, Drake Whitker, still inside.
He told police he didn’t see anyone leave the vehicle. He said, "Drake is fine. He just got out of the car and is sitting in my front seat right now."
Another 911 caller, who said he’d received the Amber Alert on his cellphone, reported seeing a white Audi traveling down Dempster Street.
The boy was reunited with his family at the Skokie Police Station a short time later.
Park Ridge police said today they were questioning a suspect but no charges have been announced.
