A 21-year-old man was held in lieu of $2 million bail today on first-degree murder charges in a shooting from March 2012.
According to prosecutors in Cook County bond court, Jamony Nunley, of the 6700 block of South Bishop Street, walked up behind Deon Freeman, 26, on March 21, 2012 as he exited a convenience store at 1607 W. 72nd St. and fired a .40 caliber semi-automatic gun.
Freeman was with an older man at the time of the shooting who had just bought him a pop, a prosecutor said. Freeman died as a result of the gunshot wound.
Video from the scene showed Nunley at the scene and captured the shooting, the prosecutor said. Nunley's fingerprints were also found on the gun used in the shooting, which was recovered in an abandoned house near the scene, the prosecutor said.
According to court documents, Nunley is a known member of the Gangster Disciples street gang.
