A shooting early this morning in the West Town neighborhood left a man wounded, one of three shot on the city's Northwest and West sides overnight.
The West Town shooting happened about 1:43 a.m. just west of Ada Street on Randolph Avenue, outside Sawtooth Restaurant/Lounge and Bespoke Cuisine.
More than two dozen police cars from the Shakespeare and Near West Side police districts, marked and unmarked, responded to the shooting because of a fight that broke out about the same time.
The victim, 26, was shot in the leg and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
A 45-year-old man was shot about 12:15 a.m. in the 800 block of North Kedvale Avenue in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.
About 8:30 p.m. Friday, a 17-year-old boy who was injured in a shooting claimed that he had been shot in the 3300 block of North Harlem Avenue in the Belmont Heights neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
After he was taken to Loyola University Medical Center for the wound to his leg police began and his story was discredited. The teen eventually admitted to police that he had accidently shot himself. Read more.
