An 84-year-old woman died Tuesday after she was hit by a car near her Glenview home, authorities said.
Ulla Sjoholm, 84, of the 2500 block of Golf Road in the north suburb, was pronounced dead Tuesday morning at 6:52 a.m. at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Sjoholm was in the street on westbound Golf Road just east of Washington Road when she was struck by a 2012 Hyundai Accent at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to Cook County sheriff’s office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari, who was citing preliminary information.
The Hyundai’s driver immediately stopped and did not see her until after the accident, according to Ansari.
It was dark at the time of the crash and the area does not have street lights.
There was no indication the driver, who was not cited, was impaired, Ansari said.
Results of an autopsy scheduled for today were not immediately available.
