Glendale Heights armed robbery

A man wearing a ski mask and armed with a semi-automatic pistol robbed a convenience store early today in west suburban Glendale Heights, police said.

About 2:44 a.m., the robber demanded money at a 7-Eleven in the 1400 block of Bloomingdale Road and fled south toward Armitage Avenue after  the clerk handed him cash, according to a news release from the Glendale Heights Police Department.

In addition to the black mask and gloves, the man wore a Southpole brown hooded jacket with a white stripe down the sleeves and black jeans.

He was described as being white or Hispanic, standing 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds, according to the release.

The suspect "spoke clear English" and was between 22 and 25 years old, the release said.
