An 85-year-old woman walking with her grandson died after the two were hit by a vehicle in Elmhurst on Saturday.
The two were walking when a car traveling south on York Street hit them about 2:40 p.m., near the intersection with Van Buren Street.
Police said the vehicle that hit the two did not flee the scene.
Ophelia Morales, of the 900 block of Cambridge Avenue, died at Loyola University Medical Center about 8:35 p.m. She had been transferred there after first being treated at Elmhurst Hospital, according to the Elmhurst Police Department.
Her 23-year-old grandson was treated for minor injuries and later released, police said.
The two were struck about a block from Morales' home.
Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no charges are pending.
