An Elmhurst attorney pleaded guilty Friday to a charge that he stole more than $100,000 from a client.
Earl Wilcek, 59, could face a prison sentence of four to 15 years when he is sentenced on a charge of theft over $100,000. DuPage County Judge Robert Kleeman set an April 5 sentence date.
Wilcek is accused of writing checks for cash and to himself from the probate accounts of a client. He agreed to voluntary disbarment in January 2012 after being brought up for sanctions from the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.
The thefts allegedly took place between 2008 and 2010, according to DuPage prosecutors. Wilcek had been licensed to practice law in Illinois since 1981, according to the ARDC website.
