Howard-bound Purple Line service was suspended briefly this evening south of South Boulevard in Evanston after a train derailed in the CTA’s Howard train yard, an agency spokeswoman said.

The trail derailed about 7:20 p.m. in the rail yard, blocking a southbound track, said CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis. Northbound service was not being affected.

By about 8 p.m., trains were again moving in both directions, but were sharing one track north of Howard, causing delays, according to the CTA.
