One worker was seriously injured when the facade of a building under rehab partially collapsed and bricks fell on him, an official said.

The worker was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to-critical condition from the wall collapse in the 800 block of East 46th Street, said said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Kevin MacGregor.

Firefighters were sent to the scene about 11 a.m. and found the worker injured by fallen rubble.

The Buildings Department has been called in to assess the building's condition.
