A Cicero man was ordered held without bail today after being charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy at a home in the near west suburb this week.
Victor Torres, 21, allegedly got into a physical altercation Wednesday with the victim, Norberto Lara Jr. of Cicero, at the home in the 1300 block of South 59th Court. Cicero police said Torres left and returned at about 7:24 p.m. with a loaded handgun, fired 14 shots in front of several people and struck Lara “repeatedly.”
Police officials said officers arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting and arrested Torres outside the home. Detectives interviewed witnesses who gave testimony regarding the incident, officials said.
Torres was charged with murder on Thursday, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.
He is scheduled to appear at the Cook County courthouse in Maywood on March 5.
