• A group of photography students say celebrity chef Charlie Trotter ordered them to sweep the floors and clean the toilets at his former restaurant, where they were staging an exhibit, then shouted obscenities and tossed them out when they didn't. “He was just unbelievable,” said the mother of one of the students, who asked not to be identified. “The kids didn’t do anything wrong. All I know is he was extremely rude and he owes those kids an apology big time.” Read more
• Two men and two women were injured when one motorcycle crashed on Lake Shore Drive, then two others crashed after driving through the debris, police said. The accident happened around 4:10 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive just south of North Avenue, police said. Read more
• An 19-year-old man accused of killing a 5-year-old boy and his mother this summer has been charged with a third slaying in the same neighborhood last fall. Antonio Lewis, of the 5500 block of South Winchester Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder on Thursday in connection with the shooting death of 30-year-old Brandon Johnson on Halloween.
