One man was killed and two men were wounded late Sunday morning in shootings on the South Side. The shootings Sunday bring the total number of people fatally shot this weekend in Chicago up to three, with at least 26 other people wounded in shootings.

The man, 41, was shot in the back about 11:35 a.m. in the 9200 block of South Emerald Avenue in the Brainerd neighborhood, police said. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic.

He was identified as William Bailey of the 7300 block of South Union Avenue, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Earlier, in the South Shore neighborhood about 11:20 a.m., two men were shot in the 7300 block of South Oglesby Avenue, according to police.

According to preliminary information, an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition was stabilized, said police. A 28-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken in serious condition to South Shore Hospital.

No one was in custody in the attacks and police were investigating.
