Patients who smoke after bypass surgery have more than twice as much risk of some complications from the surgery compared to patients who stop smoking after the procedure, Dutch researchers conclude.
A study, appearing in Monday’s issue of the American Heart Association journal Circulation, said people who smoke after bypasses also are more likely to suffer angina pain and heart attacks.
